Maiden Voyage: Compass Calling
I’ve always enjoyed games, from board games to tabletop role-playing to video games. I love people, am an extreme extrovert, and love having fun. Even in college nearly 20 years ago, I would coordinate game nights for our friends. As my family got older, I started picking up more games like Ticket to Ride and Catan, the classic “gateway games.” I was deep into the Pokémon TCG and a league player for a few years. Once I moved east to Pennsylvania, I started spending more of my time around the board game hobby, finding it much easier to coordinate ways to play games frequently, with more people, and with more variety than TCGs could offer. What started as a casual journey around the coastline led me deep into discovering the boundless ocean of board games, and I love every minute of it.
Navigator’s Name: The Adventurer’s Spirit
Many people ask, “What’s the origin of the name Navigator’? The name has roots in two significant parts of my journey. First, through my contributions to The Level Up Board Game Podcast, I’ve had the honor of connecting board games with the world around us, guiding our Adventurers to discover links between them – from the giant Sequoias to the vibrant cities of Portugal to the pioneering roots of Kentucky. This naturally led to the ‘Navigator’ title.
‘Navigator’ is also a heartfelt tribute to my alma mater, National University, the proud home to the Navigators. As an alumna, I carry the spirit of discovery that the name signifies. Choosing ‘Navigator’ for my content creation honors my educational roots while reflecting my passion for guiding you through the exciting world of board games and the adventures they evoke. This title embodies my enthusiasm for exploration and lifelong learning, and I can’t wait to share this voyage with you!
