Game Overview: In Run Run Run!, by 25th Century Games, players are Catventurers exploring an Egyptian pyramid and discovering the Ancient Relics of Tutankhanine. (Yes, you read that correctly, Tutankhanine!) You are about to find out… are the legends true? Is it really cursed? As you continue to explore, the Pharaoh’s sarcophagus triggers, and you are detected! Powerful mummies are chasing after you! To escape, you must RUN, RUN, RUN!

Mapping the Mechanics: Turns alternate between the Mummies’ and the Players’ Actions. For the mummies, roll the mummy dice, move the movies one space closer to the vault, and then place a heart on the Mummy Tomb. If the Mummy moves to the Pharaoh’s Vault, beware! You only have one turn to stop him. If you accumulate 5 hearts on the tomb, the next Mummy appears on the game board. Each Mummy has its own effects that occur while on the board. Catventurers (players) have three options: Explore, Fight, or Cooperate, and then draw a tile. Explore puts down a tile and moves your Catventurer around the board, possibly unlocking some Sarcophagus goodies. “Fight” pits you against a Mummy or Boss Mummy. Cooperate is used when all hope is gone, allowing the Catventurers to reconvene and gain a few benefits. However, these are limited! Match up the tiles correctly to complete the Door Mechanism, or gather more torches to help light your way. Once the Boss Mummy is defeated, and any remaining Mummies – you win! If a Mummy gets to Pharaoh’s Vault, you lose!

Logbook: I love the adventurous theme of this game. And then add cats? Count me in. I’ve played this solo and as a group, and neither time has disappointed me. There was so much excitement and suspense once the Mummies started coming onto the tiles. Every time the Mummy dice rolled, it was suspenseful to see if new Mummies would enter the board or remain held off. During combat, each dice roll had everyone holding their breath to see how many hits were dealt to the Mummy. I love the game’s puzzle tile laying aspect and figuring out which tiles will fit best as the maze continues to grow. “Run Run Run” is a delightful game for my family. I knew it was a hit when my son asked, “Can we play that again?”
